Sembalun 3 Days 2 Nights Summit

Via Sembalun Route

Itinerary

DAY 0 (ARRIVAL DAY)

Upon your arrival at Lombok Praya Airport or any other port in Lombok, such as Bangsal Harbor, Teluk Kodek, Telok Nare, or from the main tourist areas (Mataram, Senggigi, Kuta Lombok), our representative staff will pick you up and transfer you to Senaru or Sembalun.

Mount Rinjani’s 3 days 2 nights Summit and Lake Segara Anak package starts from Sembalun to the Sembalun crater rim, Summit, Lake, and down to Senaru village.

This program is suitable for experienced climbers or those capable of walking up and down. Senaru village serves as our base, where you can meet your trekking guide and porters. They will provide a briefing, explain the trekking procedure, and help you prepare for the journey. If time allows, we’ll also guide you to visit Sindang Gile Waterfall for a warm-up before climbing Mount Rinjani the next day.

DAY 1

Wake up at 6:00 AM and have breakfast around 6:30-6:40 AM. Our special mountain vehicle will be ready to take us to Sembalun village, a 45-minute to 1-hour drive. We’ll arrive around 8:00 AM and proceed to register at the Rinjani Information Center (RIC) at 1,051 meters. The trek starts to Pos 1 (Pemantauan) at 1,300 meters, which takes about 2 hours.

We’ll rest for 5-10 minutes at Pos 1 (Pemantauan) and then continue to Pos 2 (Tengengean) at 1,500 meters in about 1 hour. After a short break of 5-10 minutes at Pos 2 (Tengengean), we’ll continue to Pos 3 (Pada Balong) at 1,800 meters, taking around 1 hour. A 2-hour rest and preparation for lunch will take place at Pos 3, where your guide and porters will also provide a hot drink (tea, coffee, hot chocolate, or lemon tea).

Following lunch and a rest, we’ll trek to Sembalun Crater Rim (Pelawangan Sembalun) at 2,639 meters, taking approximately 3 hours, including a prolonged steep climb. We’ll camp for the night at Sembalun Crater Rim, enjoying the stunning views of the sunset, sunrise, Segara Anak lake, Sembalun village, and the summit of Mount Rinjani.

DAY 2

We’ll wake up at 2:30 AM, enjoy a light breakfast, and start the trek to Rinjani Summit (3,726 m) at 3:00 AM. The trek takes about 3 hours and 20 minutes.

The first stage involves a moderate climb for 120 minutes, followed by a fairly easy but long trek. The final hour is very steep and challenging, with loose stones making progress slow. From the Summit, you can behold panoramic views of Lombok Island, Bali, Sumbawa, and Segara Anak Lake. After sunrise, we’ll descend to the Sembalun crater rim for a hot breakfast and break.

After sufficient rest, we’ll descend to Segara Anak Lake and hot springs. This steep and slippery trail requires caution, taking around 3 hours. Lunch will be provided by the lake, and the hot spring are just a 100-meter walk away, offering a soothing and healing experience.

After lunch and rest, we’ll ascend to the Senaru Crater Rim in a 3-hour climb. The route is steep and stony, leading to the second magnificent view from the summit. Here, you can savor a breathtaking sunset over Mount Agung in Bali and the smoke emanating from the new volcano’s vent by the lake. Camping and dinner await here.

DAY 3

After breakfast and witnessing the sunrise against the picturesque lake backdrop, we’ll begin the 4-5 hour descent to Senaru village. The journey includes breaks and lunch along the way, with the arrival time at the Rinjani Trekking Center office in Senaru estimated between 12:30 PM and 1:00 PM.
