Sembalun 2 Days 1 Night Summit

Via Sembalun Route

Trekking and climbing Mount Rinjani’s summit in 2 days and 1 night starts from Sembalun village at 1,150 meters above sea level, goes to the crater rim of Sembalun at 2,639 meters, reaches the summit at 3,726 meters, and then returns to Sembalun.

This program is designed for experienced hikers or those with good levels of fitness, capable of walking up and down for an average of 8.5 hours per day.

Itinerary

DAY 0 (ARRIVAL DAY)

We will pick you up at Lombok Airport or another location on Lombok Island and transfer you to a hotel in Senaru or Sembalun. Your trekking guide will provide guidance to better prepare you for the journey.

DAY 1

Wake up at 6:00 AM and have breakfast. After that, we will drive you to Sembalun village (1,100 m) and help you register at the Rinjani Information Center.

Trekking starts from Sembalun village around 8:00 AM. We begin with a gentle climb through open meadows. After approximately 2 hours of walking, we will reach Post 1 (1,300 m), and then another 40 minutes to reach Post 2 (1,500 m). We will continue to Post 3 (1,800 m) and have lunch there. After lunch and a rest, we will proceed to the Sembalun crater rim (2,639 m). This takes about 3 hours, including a prolonged,steep climb. We will camp for the night on the crater rim, where we can enjoy both sunrise and sunset.

DAY 2

We wake up around 2:00 AM in the darkness, have a hot drink and have a light breakfast. We will begin our climb to Mount Rinjani’s summit at 3:00 AM.The trek starts with a moderate section, followed by a fairly easy but longer trek. The final approach involves climbing steep volcanic scree.

At 6:00 AM, we will reach the summit (3,726 m) with a beautiful sunrise and a panoramic view of Lombok Island, Bali, Sumbawa Island, and Segara Anak Lake.

After that, we will descend to the Sembalun crater rim within 2 hours and have breakfast there. We will then continue descending to Sembalun village, which takes about 5 hours to reach. A car will take us to Senaru village, and from there, we’ll transfer you to your next destination.

  2. Accommodation in a comfortable hotel in Senaru or Sembalun for one night before commencing your trek.

  5. Entrance fees: 150,000 IDR/Person/Day (Normal Day) to the National Park, 225,000 IDR/Person/Day (Public Holiday) to the National Park.

If you need an extra porter to carry your personal items for the Rinjani trek, you’ll need to pay 550,000 IDR/Day.

What Do You Need to Bring When Climbing Rinjani?

When trekking Mount Rinjani, it’s important to be at a good fitness level and capable of carrying your personal daily load. All personal items should be packed in small-sized bags, not exceeding 4-5 kg. Here’s a list of essential items to bring:

  • Backpack (30-40 Kg size)
  • Torch or flashlight
  • Good trekking shoes
  • Toiletries
  • Sunblock/lotion
  • Cap
  • Camera
  • Small towel
  • T-Shirts (3/4 pieces)
  • Long trek pants
  • Windproof jacket
  • Shorts (2 pairs)
  • Sunglasses

Note: Prepare your daypack within the 5 kg weight limit. Your main luggage can be stored at our office during the trek. Bring only what you need; leave the rest at our office. Having some cash for tipping the guide and porters is recommended.
